New Song Spotlight: The Lord, My God, My Salvation

As we begin our Psalms series we’ll be looking at how the Psalmists display a wide variety of emotions and theological topics, but a few themes can be seen throughout. Things like depending on God, praising him for what he is done, finding satisfaction in God, overcoming fear, and longing for ultimate deliverance are just a few.

Our new song, “The Lord, My God, My Salvation”, (click for link) calls us to praise God for what he has done in verse 1, come to him for satisfaction and rest in verse 2, and anticipate his return and ultimate deliverance in verse 3. The refrain of the chorus, “I will trust and not be afraid” constantly reminds us of our proper response. He is worthy of all our trust, and when we truly trust him and realize that he is the only stable thing, our fears will be assuaged. Verse 1

Sing praise for what the Lord has done

Who freely gave his Son

To be our sacrifice

By His grace, greater than all my sin,

I stand no more condemened

Washed in the blood of Christ

CHORUS:

The Lord, my God and my salvation.

I will call upon His name

The Lord, my God and my salvation.

I will trust and not be afraid

I will trust and not be afraid

Verse 2

Sing praise and drink from the Well of Life

Drink deeply and without price

And never thirst again

For there is rest for the weary soul

And peace that overflows For all who come to Him.

CHORUS

Verse 3

Sing praise and shout for joy in all the earth

As we await the King’s return

Who is making all things new

In that day every tear shall be wiped away

And with one voice we’ll say,

“All glory be to you”.

CHORUS

The Lord, my God and my salvation.

I will call upon His name

The Lord, my God and my salvation.

I will trust and not be afraid

I will trust and not be afraid

CHORUS 2:

The Lord, my God and my salvation.

He is my song and my strength.

The Lord, my God and my salvation

I will trust and not be afraid

I will trust and not be afraid
