“When We See Your Face” (click for lyric video) is a new song for us by Bob and Jordan Kauflin over at Sovereign Grace Music. It’s a song about longing and hope in the midst of suffering as we await the day we see Jesus face to face. I appreciate the candid nature of the language it uses to describe life on this side of eternity. From verses 1-2….
VERSE 1
“Though the dark is overwhelming
And the brightest lights grow dim
Though the Word of God
Is trampled on by foolish men
Though the wicked never stumble
And abound in every place
We will all be humbled when we see Your face
VERSE 2
And the demons we’ve been fighting
Those without and those within
Will be underneath our feet
To never rise again
All our sins will be behind us
Through the blood of Christ erased
And we’ll taste Your kindness when we see Your face
Based off of the last few verses of 1 Corinthians 13, it points us to the ultimate hope we have in Christ. Suffering, sin, temptation and oppression by the forces of darkness will all be taken care of and dealt with when we fully know and are fully known by Jesus. May the longing for the very real hope that this song speaks of encourage our faith here and now!
We will see, we will know
Like we’ve never known before
We’ll be found, we’ll be home
We’ll be Yours forevermore
